Dog friendly beaches in Cornwall

During the summer months (Easter Day – 1st October), some of Cornwall’s beaches operate a seasonal dog ban. Below is a list of dog friendly beaches in Cornwall, so you and your pooch can enjoy the sun, sea and sand all year round!

DOG FRIENDLY BEACHES IN WEST CORNWALL

Gwenver Beach, near Sennen, Lands End

Gwenver beach is a dog friendly beach in Cornwall next to the popular Sennen Cove. Relatively quiet compared to neighbouring Sennen due to access and lack of facilities, so lots of space for dogs to run around.

Bamaluz Beach, St Ives

Bamaluz is the only dog friendly beach all year round in St Ives. Located just around the corner from the main harbour beach. Bamaluz beach disappears at high tide so please check the tide times before visiting.

Porthkidney Sands, Hayle

Widely regarded as one of the best dog friendly beaches in Cornwall, located on the approach to St Ives. At low tide the beach stretches out nearly one mile, giving maximum roaming area to play fetch. Dogs must be kept on a lead whilst on the approach footpath from St Uny Church.

Porthleven Beach, Helston

Porthleven beach is dog friendly from the ‘Blue Buoy’ steps onwards (please check signs). At low tide the beach stretches to neighbouring Loe Bar, also does the coast path. Plenty of amenities and parking in Porthleven.

Trevaunance Cove, St Agnes

Trevaunance Cove in St Agnes is a dog friendly beach, but dogs must be kept on a lead whilst on the beach.

Perranporth is one of the most popular dog friendly beaches in Cornwall. Stretching nearly 3 miles at low tide there is ample space for everybody and theres even a dog friendly pub right on the beach!

Watergate Bay, Newquay

Watergate Bay is a great dog friendly beach, stretching for over two miles at low tide, giving you and your dog plenty of room to play. The nearby beach cafe at Watergate Bay resort is also dog friendly meaning you can both enjoy a drink after walkies.

Harbour Cove, Padstow

Harbour Cove is Padstow’s only dog friendly beach all year round. It is a beautiful, secluded beach backed by shallow sand dunes. Access is either north along the coast path from Padstow town, or a seasonal car park located towards Hawkers Cove.
